Jasmien

To tell a story, whether it’s with words or music, and knowing you’ve caught everyone’s immediate attention, drawing them closer into your tale making them forget everything around. This sensation of being immersed into something bigger than yourself is a feeling I’m striving for.

Jasmien (1994) took classical piano lessons from the age of nine in her hometown of Aarschot (BE). After some time her interests shifted to Jazz piano. As her love for Jazz grew she pursued the ambition to study music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

She acquired her masters degree in 2020 for Jazz piano under the supervision of her mentor and renowned pianist/composer Diederik Wissels.

Her studies there led to founding the trio Elsiris which got selected for International B-Jazz Contest 2024 and Jazz Contest Mechelen 2020. Their music is praised for their cinematic qualities.

Since April 2025 Jasmien can call herself a certified level 1 Soundpainter after going to Ghent and Paris to follow workshops with Johan Sabbe and inventor of the language Walter Thompson.

Next to being a musician, Jasmien is a passionate and active teacher. She obtained her masters degree as a music teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and her degree as an improvisation coach at the Improvisation Academy in Amsterdam.

Music and film has always been a big interest for Jasmien. This has lead to the opportunity to create music for shortfilm Uncertainship (2019) by Amanda Hinkley.
